This an interview that was done at Inner Words magazine on January, 2002.

Inner Words: Starting at the beginning....

Da Vid: The seeds of this idea began to germinate in a book I had authored in 1976 entitled “Medicine Today, Healing Tomorrow”. In this “way ahead of its time” book, I spoke of the need to turn hospitals into healing centers which would incorporate wholistic knowledge and protocols... Two years later the further inception of this idea began as a flash of deep inspiration on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County in 1978. We had just completed producing “A Celestial Healing Festival” in the beautiful amphitheater on top of Mt. Tam which overlooks the S.F. Bay ...

This was a magical and most beautiful celebratory event which brought together inspired musicians dancers and poets... After the event, delightfully exhausted, my partners and I were sitting together overlooking the Bay contemplating Life and the beauty of the events which just transpired ... Hmmmmmmmm... Well what’s next I asked myself and each other? Behold!!... Dramatically , I saw a spectacular dome sitting over Alcatraz Island smack in the middle of SF Bay... This was not a drug induced hallucination... to the contrary.. rather a powerful lucid vision resonating to the very core of my being ...

I retreated back to my aframe in the redwoods in Western Marin and sealed the vision on paper... Over the subsequent months Michael (my partner) and I began to elaborate on the vision and developed it into a full scale Wholistic Health Healing center... Wild visionary artists at work The centerpiece being The Harmonium... an advanced sound and light Dome... This inspiring vision was set and was to become the foundation for my futures life(s)...

Over the coming months and years we continued to do Health and Freedom festivals and continued to promote wholistic health through the offices of The San Francisco Medical Research Foundation...

Inner Words: Continue with the progression of the vision...

DaVid: In 1984, I started The Human Ecology Party a wholistic political party dedicated to Health Peace and Freedom for All ... As a wholistic physician and committed environmentalist, I realized the absolute importance of integrating wholistic (natural law) principals into the body politic... As my education and awareness developed I continued to further refine The Human Ecology Party... the outcome being a metamorphosis into THE LIGHT PARTY... (www.lightparty.com)

The Light Party, a synthesis of the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Green Parties, is a proactive, wholistic, educational, empowerment party.... We have formulated a practical, synergistic 7point program which serves to successfully resolve our current socio economic and ecological challenges... Included within our 7 point platform is the The Global Peace Center. In 1992 , I announced my candidacy as a writein candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America and entered into the primaries in New Hampshire...

Well , I “lost”. However, I learned much. I committed myself to creating a powerful networking organization which continues to this day to work in concert with millions of progressive individuals and groups worldwide (the “Cultural Creatives”) on the myriad issues of the day... while continuing to hold and further supporting and initiating the vi ion of a progressively spiritually awakening humanity... a humanity rooted in genuine compassion , optimism, intelligence and wisdom ...

For me the outcome of this process is Global Peace (with the inherent realization that Peace Is Now). Freedom From Disease and the creation of The Global Peace Center on Alcatraz Island...

By Converting What Was a Place Of Pain and Suffering Into a “JEWEL OF LIGHT”, We Will Unleash Powerful Forces For Cooperation, Reconciliation and Healing...

Inner Words: Where are we at now in the process and how do you propose securing Alcatraz Island?

DaVid: Excellent questions! Let me address the second question first... The island belongs to the Native American People. Alcatraz, a sacred site for First Nation people and former federal penitentiary, is currently administered by the Department of the Interior. This means that the island belongs to US, the American people. Through a political process, be it an initiative, an act of Congress, or direct purchase of the island, we have the means and opportunity to free Alcatraz and ourselves of its sad and dismal history...

Over the years we have kept the idea alive through the gathering of signatures in support of The Global Peace Center (to date approximately 12000 signatures)... We have a presence in Muir Woods which alerts an the international community and other visitors from afar regarding this sacred and prophetic vision... in addition we are now building grassroot support of progressive peace organizations such as the World Peace and Prayer Society and continue to elicit support from Native American Peace groups such One Earth, One People, Peace Vision, Inc. and World Peace and Prayer Day ..

The good news is that the picture of the transformed Alcatraz sits on the refrigerator and in the hearts and minds of many like minded visionaries who are holding this vision along with us..

A PROGRESS REPORT
REGARDING THE ALCATRAZ CONVERSION PROJECT INTO THE GLOBAL PEACE FOUNDATION

Over the past 25 years The Gloabal Peace Foundation has been gathening national and international support for this inspired project. We have been collecting signatures here in the Bay area (particularly at our First Amendment booth in Muir Woods in Marin Co.) and via the Internet. To date we have gathered over 20,000 signatures.

Since, the Time Of Peace Is Now , we feel the time is at hand for concrete political action to have Alcatraz Island ( currently administered by The Federal Government) returned to the city and county of S.F. Once Alcatraz is returned to the Bay Area, we will work to get broad based support from the International , business , peace , artistic, philantropic and Native American communities and co-create The Global Peace Center.
